The revelation behind a hair cut - Part 1
I just cut my hair. It was the first time I did it in Uganda. I have been living here for 2 years and always found an excuse not to get it cut here. That resistance was showing such a resistance to adapt and belong.
Yesterday, I was walking in a street in Kampala, I guy grabbed my arm trying to force me to hug him (clearly aiming at my bag). I ran away terrified. Feeling vulnerable and unsafe.
My reaction was to leave the country, to run away.
I spent the whole afternoon depleted pondering which country is safe enough to become my new home, there was not a clear destination. My beloved Mexico with its organized crime, my Colombia with its Guerillas, France and the UK were the countries in which I have actually been robed. I felt so much separation and fear in each country I put in my list.
Today while intentionally cutting my hair, I made an inner declaration of belonging, not only to these lands, but to the world letting go what no longer serves me and nourishing what I choose now.
I decided not to run away and hide but to feel safe, and that was a potent rebirth.
I walked the same street today strong and proud, with less hair but a secure heart.
I am safe
I choose to take space
I choose to be visible
I choose to trust and carry my mission of working with the womb, repairing our relationship with home, creating a world with more love and connection
For me, for you, for my kids, for your kids, for all beings
With love from the Pearl of Africa
